As believers, we often struggle to comprehend the depth of God's love and acceptance. But the truth is, our relationship with Him is built on a foundation of righteousness – and it's a gift!
Through our faith in Christ's death, God has declared us righteous (Romans 3:24-25). This is not based on our own efforts or good deeds but solely on His grace and the finished work of Jesus.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." - Romans 3:23-24 (NIV)
Righteousness is not just about being "good enough" or following a set of rules. It's about being in a right relationship with God, which is only possible through faith in Jesus Christ.
"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." - 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)
Righteousness is not something we earn; it's a free gift from God (Romans 5:17). This means that every believer, regardless of their past or present, stands righteous before God.
"For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!" - Romans 5:17 (NIV)
But how do we awaken to this reality? It's through knowledge – understanding what Christ has done for us. As we grasp the magnitude of His sacrifice and love, we begin to see ourselves through God's eyes.
"My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One." - 1 John 2:1 (NIV)
The result? No guilt, no fear. The believer stands in confidence before God, knowing they're accepted and loved. This is the reality of our fellowship with the Father – unshakable confidence in His presence.
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." - Romans 8:1 (NIV)
As we understand and apply the gift of righteousness, it transforms our lives in profound ways:
1. Freedom from guilt and shame: We no longer live under the weight of our past or present mistakes.
2. Confidence before God: We can approach Him with boldness and assurance. We know God loves us and has forgiven us of all our sins.
3. Empowerment for living: We're enabled to live a life that honors God, free from the burden of self-effort. It is no longer about what we do but what Christ did.
4. Deepened fellowship with God: We experience a more intimate and meaningful relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Let's embrace this gift of righteousness and live in the freedom and confidence it brings. We are loved, accepted, and righteous in God's eyes. May this truth transform our lives and deepen our fellowship with Him!
